Normandy is an Campaign in Close Combat: The Bloody First.
Overview[edit | edit source]
The greatest effort of the Allied war effort has begun the invasion of Normandy and the return of Allied armies to mainland Europe. After success in Sicily, the 1st Infantry Division is again chosen to lead the assault. This time, the Germans have had ample time to prepare defenses and make plans and their forces are expected to fight with boundless resolve. Normandy will be the crucible of victory in Western Europe. Every inch of battlefield and each tactical decision will determine who emerges triumphant.
Objectives[edit | edit source]
Allies[edit | edit source]
The largest invasion in the history of Europe has begun. Codenamed Operation Overlord, the combined Allied armada of thousands of ships, aircraft, and over 150,000 troops invade German-occupied Western Europe. Five separate landings occur over a 40-mile stretch of the Normandy coastline, and the U.S. 1st Infantry Division is among the veteran Allied divisions chosen to lead the assault. The goal: punch through formidable German defenses and carry the fight to the end.
Axis[edit | edit source]
The Allies are at the front door of Continental Europe. This will be Germany s greatest victory or most punishing failure. If the Allies succeed in Normandy, the war will quickly unwind for Germany. Hold every inch of ground and counterattack at every opportunity. Keeping the Allies off balance and hitting them repeatedly is the key to defeating them and flinging them back across the English Channel.
